Riot Games has released the Valorant 13.01 patch, bringing a fresh wave of balance changes and a significant escalation in the developer's fight against competitive integrity issues. Following the sweeping agent overhauls seen in the 13.0 update, this patch shifts focus toward weapon tuning and cracking down on players who manipulate their rank for easier matchmaking.
Quick Facts
- Outlaw Nerfs: Recovery, spread, and recoil have all been increased to balance the weapon's power.
- Rank Manipulation: New detection tools from League of Legends are now live; penalties include suspensions and reward removals.
- Discord Integration: Global launch for Discord account linking begins July 21, 2026.
- Agent Adjustments: Iso, Yoru, and several other agents received bug fixes and quality-of-life updates.
New Rank Manipulation Penalties
Riot is doubling down on its commitment to fair play. Building on feedback from the Rank Manipulation category introduced late last year, the studio has rolled out new detection tools modeled after systems successfully implemented in League of Legends. Players found guilty of manipulating their rank now face a tiered system of consequences, which can include account suspensions, the reversion of rank, and the stripping of earned ranked rewards.
To keep the community informed, Riot has confirmed that players who report rank manipulators—as well as those who were present in the affected matches—will receive in-game feedback when a penalty is successfully issued to an offender.
Outlaw Weapon Adjustments
The Outlaw sniper shotgun is seeing its first major tuning pass to ensure its power remains in check. While Riot stated they still want the weapon to feel viable for its signature back-to-back shot playstyle, they have introduced changes to require more control from the user:
- Recovery: Increased from 0.1 to 0.15 after the first shot.
- Spread: Increased from 0 to 2.25 after the first shot.
- Recoil: Increased from 0 to 4.0 after the first shot.
Agent Updates and Bug Fixes
Beyond the weapon and behavior changes, several agents received functional updates:
- Iso: The speed of equipping a weapon after unequipping Double Tap is now instant.
- Yoru: Gatecrash active beacon duration has been increased from 15s to 20s. Additionally, Fakeout clones will now hold Yoru’s last equipped weapon rather than defaulting to his strongest one.
The patch also addresses a long list of technical bugs, including fixes for Clove and Skye, who were previously able to gain extra ability charges during the Buy Phase. Furthermore, Jett’s interaction with the Spike and weapons during Tailwind has been corrected, and various line-of-sight issues with Cypher’s Cyber Cage have been resolved.
Discord Partner Integration
Riot is streamlining the way friends group up with a new Discord partnership. By linking their accounts, players can now invite Discord friends directly into a Valorant party without needing to alt-tab. This feature, which was tested in Brazil, is set for a global launch on July 21, 2026.
