  • Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC (Steam, GOG, Epic Games Store, Battle.net), and Nintendo Switch 2

Combat, Movement, and Systems Rework

The upcoming release brings sweeping changes beyond a standard visual touch-up. CD Projekt Red has redone Geralt's combat animations to smooth out attacks and target transitions, added new finishers utilizing Witcher Signs, and introduced an adaptive combat camera that adjusts its distance based on group size.

Traversal and Roach handling receive updates alongside monster behavior and Witcher Signs. Character progression is also seeing a rebuild with restructured skill trees, new perks, and the addition of transmog support. Quest tracking, looting, menus, tutorials, and accessibility options are all updated, while immersive meditation now shows real-time world transitions instead of fading to black.

PC Enhancements and Graphics Updates

PC players gain access to full path tracing, Ray Reconstruction, ray-traced hair, and support for Nvidia DLSS 4.5, AMD FSR 4, and Intel XeSS 2.0. The PC version also shifts to native DirectX 12 and adds rendering parallelization.

Across supported platforms, the update rebuilds the lighting system with a new shading model, global illumination reworks, improved ray tracing, GTAO ambient occlusion, and subsurface scattering. Environment, NPC, and monster textures are refreshed, foliage shading is updated, and HDR tone mapping is refined.

Console Features and Cross-Platform Mods

Cross-platform mod support comes to consoles, with Xbox Series X|S specifically confirmed to support user-created quests, weapons, equipment, and balance changes. Xbox Play Anywhere support allows digital Xbox owners to share purchases and save data across Xbox Series X|S, Windows PCs, and compatible handhelds.

The Nintendo Switch 2 edition includes touch-screen support, HDR, and up to 120Hz output on compatible displays, with original Switch owners able to claim the new native version for free. Meanwhile, PS5 Pro support is confirmed, though specific performance and resolution targets remain unannounced.

Expansions Included Free

Ahead of the September launch, Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine are now included with every copy of the base game at no extra cost. Existing players can access both expansions immediately without waiting for the remaster, while save compatibility, achievements, and cross-progression remain intact.
