Tournament Format and Stages
EWC 2026 utilizes a multi-stage, double-elimination format designed to narrow the field from 22 teams down to a single champion:
- Play-In Phase 1 and 2: Eight teams (the lowest seeds from regional Stage 1 results and play-in qualifiers) compete in two groups. Opening matches are Best-of-1 (Bo1), while remaining matches are Best-of-3 (Bo3). The top two teams advance to Phase 2's single-elimination bracket, with the final two survivors entering the Group Stage.
- Group Stage: Sixteen teams—consisting of the 14 highest regional seeds plus the 2 survivors from Play-Ins—are split into two groups of eight. Opening matches are Bo1 and subsequent matches are Bo3 in a double-elimination bracket. The top four teams from each group advance to the Playoffs.
- Playoffs: An eight-team single-elimination bracket seeded by group performance. All matches are Bo3 except for the Grand Final on August 15, which is a Bo5 series.
