Unconfirmed social media claims suggesting that Tides of Annihilation developer Eclipse Glow Games downgraded its protagonist's character model have been addressed directly by the studio. Following footage that leaked prior to a recent media embargo, online comparisons sparked discussion regarding the appearance of heroine Gwendolyn.

In a statement addressing the online reception, Eclipse Glow Games insisted that the character model has not been altered. "To be very clear, we have not changed Gwen’s character model and her model has remained the same since the game was first revealed," the developer stated. The studio noted that its ongoing creative direction aims to blend Eastern and Western aesthetics.

Clarifying the Visual Differences

To explain why side-by-side comparisons show noticeable differences in the character's appearance, the studio detailed several technical updates made during production. According to the team, adjustments include:

  • Improvements to skin rendering and clothing materials
  • The introduction of different outfits
  • Lighting adjustments across builds
  • Newly implemented facial techniques that alter expressions compared to older versions

Eclipse Glow Games stated that it is continuing to refine and polish the action game as development progresses for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S release.
