Eclipse Glow Games has provided a closer look at Tides of Annihilation, an upcoming action title for PlayStation and Xbox. The game focuses on a "dual frontline system," which allows players to integrate Arthurian-inspired knight summons into their combat rotations alongside the heroine, Gwendolyn.

How Combat and Exploration Work

The combat system maps Gwendolyn's primary attacks to the Square button, while two knight summons are controlled via the Triangle button and R2 trigger. Each knight features a specific kit; for example, the knight Kay can freeze enemies in stasis, creating an opening for other knights like Palamedes to land heavy damage. Players can equip two different sets of knights and toggle between them using the d-pad.

These knights also serve a purpose outside of combat. Players can use them for environmental traversal and puzzle-solving, such as using the knight Bors to fire arrows to create ziplines or using Palamedes to move heavy objects.

Quick Facts

  • Genre: Traditional hack-and-slash action.
  • Engine: Unreal Engine 5.
  • Platforms: PlayStation and Xbox.
  • Key Mechanic: Dual frontline system allowing for knight-assisted combos and environmental interaction.

Development and Performance

The title is being developed by a team of 150 veterans with experience on franchises like Yakuza and Assassin’s Creed. While the game features a modern UK setting, the developer has incorporated diverse cultural elements, including boss fights against figures like Anubis, which transition into multi-phase, high-spectacle encounters.

The studio has confirmed that the game will feature RPG-like statistical gear, including armor sets and badges, though cosmetic outfits remain separate from stat-boosting equipment. Despite the game's progress, the developer noted that the English voice direction is still being refined, and the project has recently seen the departure of lead actress Jennifer English.

As of now, no release date has been set. The developer has consistently referred to the target platforms as "PlayStation and Xbox," leaving it unclear whether the game will launch on current-gen consoles or if it is intended for future hardware releases.
