SEGA has announced that Sonic Frontiers has officially surpassed 5 million copies sold. The milestone comes roughly three years and eight months after the open-environment title launched in November 2022.

To mark the sales milestone, SEGA released a celebration message on social media stating, "We've Found Our Flame - and it's you! Thank you for helping Sonic Frontiers surpass 5 MILLION copies sold!" As part of the update, players can equip the Sonic Adventure 2 shoes to explore the Starfall Islands.
Following its initial launch, Sonic Frontiers reached 2.5 million sales in its first month. The title introduced open-zone exploration and distinct gameplay mechanics compared to previous 3D entries in the franchise. Those design foundations were subsequently built upon by Sonic X Shadow Generations.
While SEGA continues to support recent releases like Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds with ongoing post-launch downloadable content, players are looking ahead to the publisher's next major 3D project. Rumours regarding a potential sequel have circulated, alongside fan discussion surrounding possible remasters of classic titles such as the Sonic Adventure series.
