Blood and Brine, the free expansion for Tails of Iron 2: Whiskers of Winter, arrives today on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4. The post-game update pulls Arlo away from the frozen North and drops him into Hardshell Brook, a coastal region featuring 11 quests, 10 new bosses, nine armor sets, new music, and a fishing system containing 32 aquatic creatures to discover. Players must finish the main campaign before accessing the new content.

Cast Off for Hardshell Brook

Arlo's post-game journey begins when he meets two shipwrecked sailors, Jaimie and Sam, who lost their vessel and need help building an aquarium. Filling the attraction with rare sea life will draw visitors and earn enough funds to repair their ship. That means casting a line in different fishing spots across sunlit docks and open water to hunt down 32 distinct creatures. Beneath the surface, however, some of the sea life is more interested in eating Arlo than posing behind glass, and the backstory behind Jaimie and Sam's shipwreck proves more complicated than it initially appears.

New Bosses, Ship Arena Battles, and Armor Sets

Hardshell Brook trades snow for sunlit shores, but the territory is far from safe. Across 11 quests, Arlo faces new land and underwater enemies alongside 10 boss fights built around fresh attack patterns and environmental hazards. Combat in the coastal region introduces ship arena battles, taking fights out onto the water where players must defend their boat from massive marine threats.

The update also introduces nine new armor sets, including crossover cosmetics inspired by independent titles such as Blasphemous, Cult of the Lamb, Dave the Diver, Death’s Door, Moonlighter, and Beyond Galaxyland. These crossover outfits have been hand-drawn and adapted by the developers to fit naturally onto Arlo within the medieval Ratdom setting.

Tails of Iron 2: Whiskers of Winter – Blood and Brine is available today as a free expansion on PS5 and PS4. To celebrate the launch, the base game is discounted by 60% on both platforms from August 12 to August 26 as part of PlayStation’s Ready, Set, Play promotion.
