Pocketpair has officially pulled Palworld out of early access with the launch of the 1.0 update. This release is the game’s largest expansion to date, introducing a significant map expansion, a new flight system, and a structured narrative to guide you through the endgame.
Exploring the World Tree and Floating Islands
The most anticipated addition is the World Tree region. Long teased as an inaccessible landmark on the horizon, it is now fully open for exploration. This area serves as the centerpiece for the game’s new endgame storyline, which aims to reveal the truth behind Palpagos Island.
Alongside the tree, Pocketpair has introduced a series of floating islands. Together, these additions roughly double the playable map size, bringing new enemies, mechanics, and exploration opportunities to the late-game experience.
Mastering the Wing Pack
With the arrival of floating islands, navigating the world has changed. The new Wing Pack allows players to glide and engage in aerial combat without needing to occupy one of their five active Pal combat slots. This addition provides more flexibility in how you build your team and approach high-altitude exploration.
New Pals and Genetic Recombination
Update 1.0 features the largest single batch of new Pals added to the game since launch. These creatures are specifically tied to the World Tree and floating islands, each bringing unique combat roles and abilities.
If you are interested in breeding, the update introduces the Genetic Recombination system. This replaces the previous breeding mechanics to offer deeper customization and more meaningful results, allowing for more precise control over your Pals' traits.
Revamped Progression and PvP
The core gameplay loop has received a major overhaul. Players will now find a structured, mission-based narrative that guides them from the start of the game to the new endgame content. Additionally, the developers have refreshed existing regions to ensure they feel connected to this new progression flow.
Key system changes include:
- Dedicated PvP Mode: You can now test your combat builds and Pal teams against other players in structured battles.
- Tower Bosses: These encounters have been redesigned for a more challenging experience.
- World Mechanics: Combat, movement, and Wildlife Sanctuary content have all been adjusted to improve the overall flow of the game.
While existing save files will carry over, the depth of these changes makes a fresh start a compelling option for returning players who want to experience the full, intended progression path.
