Finding Blackbeard’s Treasure Chest in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced requires more than just navigating to a coordinate; you need to complete specific story milestones and navigate a multi-stage underwater tunnel. Here is how to track it down.

Prerequisites and Location

You cannot access the treasure until you finish Sequence 8: Do Not Go Gently. Once that mission is complete, the treasure map becomes available, pointing you to Anotto Bay in the Charlotte region (north of Kingston). The target area is located around coordinates 590,244 to 591,243.

If you have already visited the bay, you can fast travel there. If not, be prepared for potential naval combat with hostile ships before you can reach the shore.

Step-by-Step: Reaching the Treasure

  1. Find the Underwater Entrance: Approach the wreckage near the bay. Look for jellyfish clustered around an underwater tunnel entrance; this is your primary visual cue.
  2. Navigate the Tunnels: Swim through the tunnel, keeping an eye out for sharks. When the path splits, take the right path. The left route leads only to a side chest. Continue until you reach a ladder leading to a dry section of the cave.
  3. Clear the Smuggler’s Den: Once you surface, you will encounter enemies. Eliminate them to secure the area.
  4. Breach the First Wall: Locate a red explosive barrel in the first chamber. Carry it to the blocked wall and shoot the barrel from a safe distance to clear the path.
  5. Breach the Second Wall: Follow the path forward, defeating any remaining enemies until you reach the waterfall. Find the second explosive barrel, carry it up the ledge behind the waterfall, place it by the wall, and detonate it.

Finalizing the Quest

Once the second wall is destroyed, you can enter the final room to collect the treasure chest. Note that while you may encounter a locked chest in this area, it requires a key from a specific NPC and cannot be opened during this initial quest.

After securing the treasure, travel to Great Inagua to complete the quest and claim your reward: Blackbeard’s portrait.

Pro-tip: The underwater sections are significantly easier to navigate during the day, as the increased visibility helps you spot air pockets, tunnels, and shark encounters more effectively.
