Owners of id Software's iconic Quake on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 have received a surprise content update to mark the franchise's 30th anniversary. Developed by MachineGames, the new release introduces a 19-level episode titled Dawn of the Machine, available at no additional charge for existing game owners.

Campaign Details and Story
The new episode places players back into the boots of protagonist Ranger. The narrative centers on Ranger escaping an illusory dimension where time folds back onto itself. As the looping cycle progresses, players discover ways to break the loop, uncover upgrades for health and ammunition supplies, and ultimately take down The Nightmare Machine, the source of the planar prison.
Additional Surprises and Sales
Alongside the campaign, the update introduces new Trophies tied specifically to the Dawn of the Machine episode. For players who do not yet own the title, both the original game and its sequel are currently heavily discounted on the PS Store, allowing new users to grab the classic shooter for a minimal cost ahead of Quakecon weekend.
