Studio Koba has confirmed that its new side-scrolling shooter, Future Knight, will arrive on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 next week, on August 13, 2026.
A Unique Visual Style
The title is notable for its distinct art direction, which mimics the look of classic LCD handhelds like those produced by Tiger Electronics or Nintendo’s Game & Watch series. The developers have designed the game with pixel-art characters overlaid on printed-style backdrops, spanning eight different biomes.
Gameplay Mechanics
The game features a core mechanic that allows players to switch between two distinct characters at any time:
- Future Knight: Built from the remnants of a 90s soap opera actor, this character serves as the primary combatant.
- Two More: A benign tumor living inside the protagonist, this character is used for traversal, specifically for wall jumping and squeezing through narrow areas.
The narrative revolves around stopping the "Lady of the Past," the leader of a cult, who has wiped the memories of humanity. Players must navigate through the eight biomes to fix the future.
