Understanding The Grounds
The Grounds acts as an interactive social space inspired by city-based hubs found in other sports titles. Players can explore the area as an avatar and access various activities, including minigames such as obstacle courses and basketball-inspired football variants. The environment is divided into three distinct districts themed after the UK, France, and Argentina.
For competitive players, The Grounds serves as the entry point for Clubs. While matches can be accessed through a central stadium hub, players are also able to navigate the space on foot to find smaller pitches for one-on-one or five-a-side games. EA Sports intends to update the mode over time, with plans for seasonal, time-limited events like the Halloween-themed decorations shown during the preview.
Monetization and Interaction
The mode includes an in-game store featuring digital gear from real-world brands such as Adidas and Puma. Exploration also incorporates interactive elements, such as the ability to drop-kick a football at collectibles scattered throughout the world. EA Sports plans to roll out new minigames and content updates on a weekly basis to support the live-service structure of the mode.
