EA SPORTS FC 27 is introducing significant changes to Football Ultimate Team, centered on how players manage their clubs and track their history. The update, detailed in a recent developer deep dive, focuses on long-term progression through new systems like the FUT Gallery and a shift toward more flexible squad-building tools.
FUT Gallery and 3D Hub
The new FUT Gallery serves as a record-keeping system for your club. Most players obtained through packs, market transfers, or objectives can be added to the Gallery. Even after a player is sold or submitted into an SBC, they remain part of your Gallery sets, contributing to your overall Gallery Level and rewards.
Players on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2 will also have access to the Gallery Hub. This feature allows users to visualize their club's progress in a 3D environment, where favorite sets and player items appear as physical objects in the game space.
Changes to SBCs and Item Rarity
EA is moving toward "Streamlined SBCs" for most Player and Upgrade challenges. Instead of meeting specific chemistry or position requirements, players now reach a target score using a combination of any items from their club. This system supports partial submissions, allowing players to contribute items toward a goal over time rather than completing the entire requirement in one sitting.
Additionally, the game is simplifying rarity classifications. Bronze, Silver, and Gold items will no longer be labeled as "Common" or "Rare." This change is designed to distinguish standard items from the newly introduced Holographic Player Items, which feature animated foil effects and premium visuals.
Evolution and Gameplay Balance
Evolutions in FC 27 now include "Pathways," which offer branching upgrade choices for players, and "Evolution Chain Preview," a tool that lets users see how one upgrade path might lead into another before committing their resources.
To maintain balance throughout the season, EA is implementing several adjustments:
- PlayStyle+ Limits: The maximum number of PlayStyle+ traits on a single item is being reduced from five to three.
- Campaign Cadence: There will be approximately five fewer weeks featuring a new Campaign Squad compared to previous titles, intended to make each release feel more significant.
- Role Familiarity: All special items will now feature Role++ familiarity across all roles in their primary and secondary positions.
- Attacking AI: A new "Attacking Spatial Awareness" mechanic is being added to help players make more natural runs in the final third.
These updates aim to create a more consistent progression journey, encouraging players to keep their items for longer periods while providing more tactical flexibility on the pitch.
