Explore Hardshell Brook and New Quests
The free content centers around a new coastal area named Hardshell Brook. To begin the post-game storyline, players must have already finished the main campaign. Once unlocked, the area introduces eleven quests and ten new bosses for Arlo to tackle.
Series narrator Doug Cockle returns to voice the update, framing a strange new storyline triggered by two shipwrecked sailors, Jaimie and Sam. Rather than a straightforward rescue, the sailors enlist Arlo's help to build an aquarium by catching unusual aquatic creatures from dangerous waters. As the narrative unfolds, the sailors' wrecked ship hints at a darker underlying tale.
Fishing and Indie Crossover Armor Sets
Fishing functions as a core mechanic tied to the aquarium progression within Hardshell Brook. Alongside the new coastal location, nine standard armor sets join the loot pool, accompanied by original music composed for the update.
Additionally, Blood and Brine features six crossover armor sets inspired by well-known indie titles. Odd Bug Studio hand-drew each set to match the distinct aesthetic of the Ratdom:
- The Penitent One from Blasphemous
- The Lamb from Cult of the Lamb
- Dave from DAVE THE DIVER
- The Crow from Death’s Door
- Will from Moonlighter
- Boom Boom from Beyond GalaxyLand
Studio CEO Jack Bennett described the free story pack as a token of appreciation for the player base, while also praising the developers behind the featured crossover projects.
