Cold Symmetry has released the first balance patch for Mortal Shell 2, arriving shortly after the game's August 20, 2026 launch. The update focuses on easing the game's economy and adjusting difficulty spikes reported by players.

Key Economy and Gameplay Changes

  • Economic Adjustments: Enemies now drop significantly more gold. Specifically, enemies in Mammon drop double the gold compared to before.
  • Weapon Crafting: The cost to smelt weapons at the Tarforge has been reduced by 75% to decrease the need for excessive grinding in NG+.
  • Glimpse Refunds: Players who previously spent glimpses will receive refunds, which can be retrieved from the Shell Keeper's alcove in Blackmarrow.
  • Map Costs: Shell map locations now require gloom to unlock.
  • Combat Balancing: HP values for enemies and bosses have been reverted to their beta levels, with the exception of the Caerinid (Spider) in the Magdelena area, which remains a non-respawning, high-threat enemy.
  • Movement and Buffs: Players can now use the guard action while walking. Several weapons and tarstones have received performance buffs.

Technical Improvements

The patch includes general performance improvements and several bug and crash fixes. While the source material focuses on the PC release, the developer notes these adjustments are intended to create a smoother experience for all players navigating the game's interconnected open world.

No manual action is required beyond updating your game client through your respective platform launcher to apply these changes.
