The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 beta is nearly live, bringing early access to multiplayer modes, a campaign mission, and the new mobility course. Pre-loading is available now across Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, PlayStation 5, Steam, and Battle.net.
- Check your eligibility: Access the Early Access beta by pre-ordering a digital or physical edition of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, or by redeeming an acquired beta code.
- Pre-load the game: Install the beta files early through your platform's store to ensure you are ready for launch.
- Link your Activision Account: Sign in with your Activision profile before playing to tie beta rewards and progression to your account for the full game launch.
Modern Warfare 4 Beta Schedule
- Weekend One (Early Access): August 21 at 11:00 AM PT – August 25 at 10:00 AM PT
- Weekend Two (Open Beta): August 28 at 10:00 AM PT – September 1 at 10:00 AM PT
Players joining both weekends only need to install the beta once. Updates and progression carry over directly into Weekend Two.
How to Pre-load and Launch by Platform
Xbox Series X|S and Xbox on PC
- Pre-load: Open the Xbox Store, search for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Beta, and select Install.
- Launch: Open My Games & Apps at 11:00 a.m. PT on Friday, August 21, select the beta, and choose Play. Note that Xbox on PC downloads a small portion during pre-load, with the bulk downloading on August 21 at 7:00 a.m. PT.
PlayStation 5
- Pre-load: Open the PlayStation Store, search for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Beta, and choose Download.
- Launch: Access the beta from your Home screen or Game Library once it goes live at 11:00 a.m. PT on August 21.
Steam (PC)
- Pre-load: Open the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Store page and select Play Now to automatically add the beta to your library.
- Launch: Open your Steam Library and select the beta when it launches at 11:00 a.m. PT on August 21.
Battle.net (PC)
- Pre-load: Open Battle.net, select Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, choose the beta version if prompted, and click Install.
- Launch: Click Play once the beta goes live at 11:00 a.m. PT on August 21.

Weekend One Content Overview
Weekend One grants an early look at multiple gameplay systems:
- Campaign Mission: Play through "Entrenched," marking the first time a Call of Duty beta includes a single-player mission focused on defending a nuclear power station.
- Mobility Course: Test movement mechanics, traversal techniques, and weapon handling in timed training runs.
- Multiplayer Modes: Compete in Team Deathmatch, Domination, Hardpoint, Kill Confirmed, Search and Destroy, and the new mode Inflation across five Core 6v6 maps (Rooftops, Silkworm, Transit 213, Cachette, and Lotus).
- Gunfight & Kill Block: Experience 3v3 Gunfight and the 10v10 variant on Kill Block, a dynamic arena that reconfigures every two rounds.
