Mastering food mechanics is essential for survival in Beast of Reincarnation. The game ties field survival, stat buffs, and base management together through two distinct systems: field food that keeps hunger meters filled for passive health recovery, and meals prepared by Kagura that grant stat improvements before your next journey.

  1. Keep Emma and Koo's hunger meters filled with field rations or cooked items to maintain passive out-of-combat HP regeneration.
  2. Hand discovered recipe manuals and farming guides to Kagura inside the Cleanse Walker to unlock new meals and crop yields.
  3. Plant seeds in the Grow Chamber and place fertilized eggs in the Incubator to automate ingredient production.
  4. Upgrade your Walker facilities using discovered Facility Modules to unlock additional production slots.

How the Hunger System Works

Emma and Koo each maintain a separate hunger meter during exploration. As long as these meters contain food, both characters gradually recover HP outside of combat. Letting a hunger meter empty removes this passive regeneration entirely, forcing you to rely more heavily on Stimpacks, emergency medicine, and rest camps after taking damage.

You can feed Emma and Koo via the pack menu or at a camp using items like Field Rations, grilled meat, grilled fish, Hard Candy, and Koo's food, depending on character consumption limits. Note that raw cooking ingredients like rice, vegetables, fish, eggs, and water should be saved for Kagura's kitchen at the Cleanse Walker rather than consumed directly from your Battle Pack.

How Kagura Researches Recipes and Farming Guides

Cooking becomes available once Kagura joins the Cleanse Walker. Recipe manuals discovered during exploration or bought from merchants can be handed to Kagura through the Cooking Research menu. While research takes time, completed recipes remain available for all future meals.

Kagura can also perform Grow Research using farming guides found in the world, which permanently increases the yield of corresponding crops. Both recipe and grow research continue running while Emma and Koo explore outside the Walker, meaning you should always assign an active project before heading out to fight Malefacts.

Prepared Food and First-Time Bonuses

Prepared meals are chosen when resting inside the Cleanse Walker. Kagura prepares any researched recipe using your available ingredients, granting Emma stat increases after the group eats and rests.

Eating a specific recipe for the first time provides a significantly larger bonus than preparing that same meal again. Researching multiple recipes and trying each one at least once yields better results than relying on a single easy dish.

How Farming and Upgrades Work

Seeds and seedlings go into the Grow Chamber to produce vegetables, fruit, and rice over time. Fertilized eggs go into the Incubator to hatch into chickens that supply regular eggs for cooking. Production continues automatically while you complete quests and explore regions.

Both facilities start with limited space. Facility Modules found during exploration can be used to upgrade the Grow Chamber and Incubator inside the Cleanse Walker. Prioritize upgrading the Grow Chamber early to manage the wider variety of crops required for Kagura's recipes.
