A retail listing for the unreleased Intellivision Amico console has surfaced online featuring packaging artwork that prominently displays Nintendo characters, sparking confusion over copyright infringement. UK-based video game store The Game Collection is currently using an image of the Amico box showcasing Luigi, Wario, and Diddy Kong on its product page.
When questioned on social media regarding the unexpected crossover, representatives for The Game Collection stated that they did not design the box art and that the image was distributed to them as an official asset. The store was unable to confirm whether placing a pre-order at this stage would result in actual delivery of the hardware.
A reverse image search traces the render back to a portfolio website used by a former senior Intellivision employee four years ago. The image appears to have been an early prototype render created during the console's active development phase. Throughout its turbulent history, the project faced several intellectual property and asset controversies, including instances involving Starfox text and Battle Tanks.
The console itself remains unreleased following the exhaustion of its pre-order funds, key personnel departures including former CEO Tommy Tallarico, and the sale of the Intellivision brand name to Atari without the Amico console attached.
