Nintendo is expanding its retro library on August 4, 2026, by adding two previously unreleased Virtual Boy titles to the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pass: D-Hopper and Zero Racers.

Quick Facts

  • Titles: D-Hopper (formerly Dragon Hopper) and Zero Racers.
  • Service: Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pass.
  • Release Date: August 4, 2026.
  • Additional Content: New soundtracks from Virtual Boy Wario Land, Mario Clash, Galactic Pinball, Teleroboxer, and Mario’s Tennis are now available on Nintendo Music.

D-Hopper is a fantasy action-adventure title that follows a prince attempting to liberate fairies, elemental spirits, and his loved ones from an oppressive regime. Zero Racers, meanwhile, is a racing game inspired by the mechanics of the SNES classic F-Zero. Both games were originally scheduled for a 1996 release before the Virtual Boy console was discontinued.

These additions follow Nintendo’s ongoing support for the platform, which began in September 2025. The company previously released plastic and cardboard Virtual Boy replicas, which allow players to access specific VR modes in titles like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Odyssey.

Additionally, Nintendo confirmed that the GameCube title Super Mario Sunshine will join the Nintendo Switch Online library on August 13, 2026.
