Nintendo is expanding its retro library on August 4, 2026, by adding two titles that never saw an official release during the Virtual Boy's original 1996 lifespan. D-Hopper (also referred to as Dragon Hopper) and Zero Racers will be available to all subscribers of the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack service.
Forgotten Titles Finally Reach Players
Both games were originally developed for the Virtual Boy but were canceled following the console's commercial failure. Their addition to the current service allows modern players to experience these lost titles for the first time.
- D-Hopper: Developed by Intelligent Systems, this action-adventure title features a prince exploring a world to rescue allies and combat a corrupt politician. It is described as being in the vein of The Legend of Zelda series.
- Zero Racers: An F-Zero-style racing game that includes both a Grand Prix circuit mode and a solo practice mode.
Expanded Virtual Boy Integration
The release coincides with broader support for the system on the Nintendo Switch. In addition to the library expansion, Nintendo has confirmed that soundtracks for Virtual Boy titles are now available to listen to via the Nintendo Music app.
These two games join the existing lineup of seven Virtual Boy titles added to the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack earlier in February 2026.
