With Sony announcing the closure of the PlayStation Store for PS3 and Vita, and the upcoming end of physical disc production in 2028, many players are rushing to secure their digital libraries. While the situation feels uncertain, platform holders currently allow users to redownload previously purchased content. If you have a collection on older consoles, now is the time to ensure those titles are saved to your hardware.

How to Redownload Games on Nintendo 3DS and DS

Even though the 3DS was discontinued in 2020, you can still access your digital library, including original DS titles.

  1. Open the Nintendo eShop by tapping the orange shopping bag icon.
  2. Select Settings / Other to open the Functions menu.
  3. Press Down on the d-pad to locate the History section.
  4. Select Redownloadable Software to view your library.

Note that this list displays 20 titles per page, and you must select and download games individually. It is a time-consuming process, but it remains functional for both 3DS and DS software.

Redownloading Wii U and Wii Titles

Nintendo has distinct processes for its last two home consoles. For the Wii U, use the eShop directly:

  1. Select the Nintendo eShop from the bottom bar of your home screen.
  2. Tap My Menu on the left side, or press Y.
  3. Select Your Downloads.
  4. Choose Downloaded Software to find your list of games.

For original Wii titles, you must use the Wii Menu on your Wii U:

  1. Access the Wii Menu and select the Wii Shop Channel.
  2. Select Start, then Start Shopping.
  3. Choose Titles You’ve Downloaded to redownload your content to an SD card.

Accessing Your Xbox 360 Library

If you are struggling to connect your Xbox 360 to the internet, try plugging directly into your router with an ethernet cable. If that fails, deleting and reloading your profile can often clear authentication errors. Be absolutely certain you remember your password before doing this, as modern passkey authentication processes are not compatible with the 360.

Once connected, the process is straightforward:

  1. Navigate to the Settings tab.
  2. Select Account.
  3. Access your Download History to begin retrieving your games.

While digital ownership remains a point of contention, these methods ensure your existing purchases remain accessible for the time being. If you have a deep library, don't wait—start your downloads while the servers remain active.
