Developer and publisher information confirms that the upcoming fighting game Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls will feature a rotating roster of artists for its single-player campaign. The Spider-Man storyline, titled 'The Amazing Guardians', is illustrated by Japanese artist Betten Court.
Betten Court is recognized for his work on the My Hero Academia: Vigilantes prequel manga. This project marks another collaboration between the artist and Marvel, as Court previously worked on the Spider-Man: Octo-Girl manga alongside writer Hideyuki Furuhashi.
Campaign Structure and Talent
The single-player mode in Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls consists of five distinct episodes. To differentiate these stories, the development team has opted to assign a unique illustrator to each plot. While the campaign is described as being lighter in scope than other titles in the genre—such as Street Fighter 6’s World Tour mode—the team aims to utilize the varied artwork and voice acting to maintain player engagement.
Kieron Gillen, a prominent figure in the comic book industry, has been confirmed as the writer for all five stories featured in the campaign.
Visual Style
Players who participated in the game's recent beta had the opportunity to view a sample of the Spider-Man story. The animated panels for this segment reflect Betten Court's established visual style, which is particularly evident in the character expressions for Ms. Marvel. As the game approaches its release, it remains to be seen which other illustrators will be contributing to the remaining four episodes of the campaign.
