Sony Santa Monica has locked in the release date for its next major project, confirming that God of War Laufey stands as the PS5's next big exclusive dated, and it's closer than you think. Revealed during a San Diego Comic Con panel overnight, the spin-off action game starring Kratos’ late wife is scheduled to launch on 16th February, 2027.

The release date announcement follows months of speculation after the game was officially unveiled at Summer Game Fest. Creative lead Cory Barlog used the Comic Con panel to confirm the upcoming launch date while also providing a broader look at the franchise's trajectory.
Alongside the upcoming spin-off, Barlog confirmed that another new God of War title featuring Kratos is currently in development at SIE Santa Monica Studio. This subsequent project will release after God of War Laufey and will connect directly to its storyline.
A Bumper Year Ahead for PlayStation 5
The February 2027 release window contributes to what is shaping up to be a busy period for the console. Alongside the Santa Monica Studio release, Naughty Dog’s Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet is also expected to arrive at some point during 2027.
For collectors and players who prefer physical media, Sony has confirmed that physical copies will be available at launch, ensuring players can own God of War Laufey on a PS5 disc.
