Riot Games has announced that active development on 2XKO is shutting down this year because the League of Legends fighting game failed to attract enough players to sustain long-term support. Developer Riot Games stated that while the game built a dedicated daily player base, engagement remained flat and operating costs outpaced revenue.
Quick Facts
- Platforms: PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S/X
- Original Release: January 2026
- Final Content Update: October 2026
Despite the end of active development, the game itself will remain playable online and offline for the foreseeable future.
Refunds and Final Content Updates
To address players following the decision, all in-game purchases made up until August 20 will be refunded in the coming weeks. On September 8, an update will unlock all champions for every player alongside a final $40 bundle containing all previously released cosmetic items. Lux, a character previously announced at Evo 2026, will also launch as part of the September update.
The final champion, Samira, arrives in October alongside the game's final major content patch. Following these updates, Riot Games plans to shift its focus back to research and development for future projects.
