Rideshare Stimulator has updated its official Steam page to include a disclosure regarding the use of generative AI in the game’s development. This update follows public controversy involving Saber Interactive CEO Matt Karch and the game's former lead writer, Stella Sacco.

AI Usage Details

The developers confirmed that while the core story script was written by a team of human writers, AI is integrated into several other technical and creative systems:

  • Voice and Localization: AI tools are utilized for voice generation and specific localization tasks.
  • Free Ride Mode: The optional 'Free Ride' mode features passenger missions and localized dialogue generated by AI.
  • Music: The game includes a mix of human-composed music and AI-generated tracks. The Steam disclosure notes that any radio stations featuring AI-generated music are clearly labeled within the game.

The update comes after a public exchange regarding the project's development. Following claims by former lead writer Stella Sacco that she was replaced by ChatGPT, Saber Interactive CEO Matt Karch stated that the company had intended to reveal its use of AI tools once the feature set was finalized. Karch also characterized the use of AI in the title as a benefit for consumers, noting that it helped keep the game at a lower price point.

Sacco has maintained her position regarding her departure from the project, while the developers emphasized in the new Steam note that the primary narrative work remains the product of human writers.
