Developer ArtDock has addressed a recurring piece of player feedback surrounding its recently released tactical roguelite, Lootbound. Following the game's launch on PC via Steam on August 14, 2026, players frequently asked why the characters appear to stare directly at the screen.
Addressing the community query, the studio confirmed that the gaze is entirely intentional rather than an accidental byproduct of development. According to the team, the heroes looking at and addressing the player directly is built into the lore of the dark fantasy world. This mechanic appears organically within character dialogues, where the heroes speak directly to the person behind the screen rather than to someone within the game space.
Alongside the explanation, the developer shared a development screenshot showing what the heroes look like from behind as a lighthearted nod to the ongoing player discussion. The studio also recently released Patch 1.1.5 to address feedback regarding harsher-than-intended difficulty balance in certain areas.
Players jumping into the turn-based dungeon crawler do not need to download or enable anything new beyond keeping their Steam installation updated to the latest version. Those wishing to share additional feedback or contact the developers directly can do so via the official ArtDock Discord community.
