Riot Games has detailed the upcoming changes for League of Legends Classic patch 2. The update focuses on drafting flexibility, accelerating player progression, and adjusting the current balance of the 63-champion roster.

Progression and Gameplay Adjustments

To address player feedback regarding the pace of character building, Riot is implementing significant changes to progression systems:

  • Increased Progression: IP gain is boosted by approximately 2.5x, and Classic XP gain is doubled.
  • Rune Accessibility: Every minor rune has been reduced in price to match the cost of primary runes. Players will also receive two additional rune pages.
  • Drafting Flexibility: Champion and role swapping are now available in champ select.
  • Community Voting: Players ranked five and above can participate in the first Council vote, which includes questions regarding the inclusion of trinkets. Voting weight increases at ranks 15 and 25.

Champion and Item Balance

Game Designer David 'Phreak' Turley confirmed that all balance changes are data-driven, based on current win percentages and pick/ban rates.

Buffed Champions: Annie, Ashe, Dr. Mundo, Garen, Jax, Kayle, Lux, Miss Fortune, and Sivir.

Nerfed Champions: Ahri, Blitzcrank, Evelynn, Ezreal, Gragas, Heimerdinger, Tristana, Tryndamere, and Twitch.

Item and Rune Tweaks:

  • Innervating Locket: The item is now cheaper and includes its original 10% cooldown reduction.
  • Feral Flare/Wriggle's Lantern: These items now trade attack damage for increased attack speed.
  • HP5 Quintessences: The values for these runes have been doubled to correct an error.

Visual and Technical Updates

The patch introduces a lighting update along with texture and prop adjustments across the map to better reflect the intended Season 3-era aesthetic. Additionally, the team is continuing to update tooltips, with approximately 65% of the roster already corrected to display accurate values.

Players do not need to take manual action to enable these features, though the update will require a standard download once the patch goes live.
