TMXN Games has announced Among Shadows, a new fantasy action-RPG that blends traditional character progression with social deduction mechanics. The title is currently scheduled for release on PC in 2026.
Core Gameplay Mechanics
In Among Shadows, players take on the role of members of the Order of the Secret Fire. The primary goal involves exploring a blighted region to track down sources of corruption, looting gear, and leveling up characters. The experience shifts into a social deduction scenario when the Blood Moon rises.
During these sequences, players must escort a local Lord and their people to the edge of the map while fighting off enemies including zombies, fanatics, and wraiths. The core challenge lies in the fact that one or more players in the group are secret traitors assigned to:
- Cultivate the plague within the region.
- Lay traps for the party.
- Stealthily murder other players.
To identify the saboteurs, players can initiate meetings at night to discuss observations and vote on who they believe is working against the group.
