Final Fantasy 14 is now available on Nintendo Switch 2, following an announcement at the end of June 2026. Players can download and play the title immediately, with Square Enix offering a free trial that includes the base game alongside the Heavensward, Stormblood, and Shadowbringers expansions.

To access the game, players must link both a Square Enix account and a Nintendo account. While a Nintendo Switch Online subscription is not required for gameplay, users will eventually need a paid Final Fantasy 14 subscription once the initial free-play period ends. Square Enix noted that a separate subscription is required for the Switch 2 version, even if players already have an active account on other platforms.
For existing players, Square Enix is offering a 50 percent discount on the subscription fee for the Switch 2 version if they maintain an active subscription elsewhere. For new players, the Complete Edition is currently discounted by 30 percent—priced at $41.99/£31.49—until August 13, 2026. Note that purchasing any paid edition will immediately end access to the free trial.
The 117.2GB file size is significant for the console's internal 256GB storage capacity, and players are advised to ensure they have sufficient space before initiating the download.
