A new free-to-play shooter called Nazi Zombies launched into Steam early access on July 31, 2026, bringing an unashamed retro spin on classic round-based zombie survival to PC players. Developed by FossettGaming—the studio behind the TimeSplitters and GoldenEye-inspired shooter TimeShifters—the project slipped largely under the radar upon release.

Familiar Gameplay and Mechanics

Despite being an overt clone of classic Call of Duty Zombies modes, Nazi Zombies recreates the old-school formula with striking accuracy. Players will find a nearly 1:1 recreation of iconic elements, including the Ray Gun, the M1911 starting pistol, mystery boxes, power-ups, perk machines, chalk-line wall buys, and a Pack-a-Punch equivalent dubbed the "bless-your-guns ATM."

The game also features a signature camo grind, round-ending musical numbers, and sound effects reminiscent of modded iterations of the genre. Maps utilize a simpler design philosophy featuring tight shooting mechanics and retro layouts reminiscent of classic handheld entries.

Current Reception and Availability

At the time of writing, Nazi Zombies holds a "Very Positive" user rating on Steam with 186 reviews and a peak concurrent player count of approximately 106. Because of its remarkably close resemblance to Activision's intellectual property, players interested in trying the retro-style shooter are downloading it through Steam while it remains available in early access.
