DEADBODY Games has released a public demo for 500 FINGER FILLET, a roguelite title centered on the high-stakes “knife game.” Players can now download the demo on Steam to experience the core loop ahead of the game's full launch, which is expected sometime in 2026.

Gameplay Mechanics and Stakes

In 500 FINGER FILLET, players must click the left mouse button to stab a knife into the spaces between splayed fingers. The experience is designed to be intentionally stressful, as the mechanical device holding the knife shakes unpredictably.

Key gameplay factors players must manage include:

  • Weapon Stats: Each knife choice affects the likelihood of severing a finger, causing blood loss, or inflicting pain.
  • Health Management: Losing fingers leads to blood loss, while reaching a maximum pain threshold results in a blackout.
  • Time Constraints: Rounds require players to complete 50 stabs within a few minutes.
  • In-Game Economy: Players can earn money to purchase items like rings or tape to reattach severed fingers and assist with survival.

Customization Options

While the game focuses on the high-pressure task of avoiding injury, it includes several cosmetic customization options. Players can select skin tone, nail polish color, and even choose the color of their character's blood. Currently, the demo does not allow players to select which hand is used for the game.

Player Progression

As a roguelite, the game encourages risk-taking through potential rewards. Players can choose to pursue golden bugs or utilize specific blade abilities to earn money, though the developer warns that greed often leads to severe consequences. The demo is currently available for download on the game's official Steam page.
