HoYoverse has officially clarified the monetization model for its upcoming action RPG, Nodusfall. Following its reveal at Gamescom 2026, the developer confirmed that the game will move away from the randomized character draw systems that define its previous titles like Genshin Impact and Zenless Zone Zero.
Character Acquisition and Gameplay
Unlike the developer's existing library, which utilizes a gacha-based framework to expand player rosters, Nodusfall will allow players to unlock characters through consistent gameplay. According to the developer, the core experience is designed to be earned via continued play rather than through randomized banner pulls.
While the game will remain free-to-play, HoYoverse noted that it is currently evaluating cosmetic items as a primary avenue for monetization. This shift marks a distinct departure from the studio's standard roster expansion loops.
Focus on Action Encounters
Nodusfall is positioned as an action-oriented experience emphasizing large-scale encounters. The game is designed to support both solo play and group sessions, focusing on challenging combat scenarios. The project is currently being developed for multi-platform release, though specific platform availability beyond its initial reveal remains to be detailed.
