A new Xbox Series X|S update is rolling out that gives players more control over their cloud saves, starting with Forza Horizon 6. Microsoft began releasing the feature to Xbox Insiders before expanding availability to a wider player base.

For owners managing extensive progression across open-world events, the update introduces a direct way to recover earlier versions of a save file straight from the console. Rather than relying entirely on automatic syncing, players can now browse available cloud save versions when they need to roll back a progression issue.

How to Access the Save Recovery Feature

To restore a previous cloud save for Forza Horizon 6 on your Xbox console, take the following steps:

  1. Highlight Forza Horizon 6 on your dashboard or in your game library.
  2. Press the menu button and select Manage game & add-ons.
  3. Navigate to Saved data.
  4. Select Restore saved data to view available cloud save versions.

This feature is currently exclusive to Forza Horizon 6 among game titles, though Microsoft has confirmed that support for additional games will arrive in subsequent updates. The functionality is rolling out alongside other dashboard additions, including new achievement history sorting tools and party chat audio options for game captures.
