The Story of the Belmonts in Paris
Set in 1499, Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse takes players to a version of Paris engulfed in flames as monstrous creatures emerge from the shadows. The narrative follows Trevor Belmont, the hero who previously defeated Dracula, and his daughter, Rose Belmont. Together, they wield the legendary Vampire Killer whip to hunt down the beasts bleeding from a looming castle. As the story unfolds, Rose becomes entangled in a dark conspiracy threatening to destroy the city.
Gameplay and Combat Mechanics
The developers are emphasizing a refined take on the series' iconic whip combat. Players can use the whip to move through environments like a trapeze artist and engage in fast-paced combat. The game also introduces the Arcana System, which allows players to seal defeated bosses—such as Death, Medusa, Carmilla, and the enigmatic Joan of Arc—into Rose’s tarot cards. These cards can be used to cast spells and trigger unique special actions.
Customization plays a significant role in the battle style, with players able to equip various Relics and weapons across seven distinct categories. By combining these items, players can tailor their loadouts to suit different exploration and combat preferences. The game combines these new systems with reimagined gothic aesthetics, drawing inspiration from classic Castlevania titles while introducing fresh map designs.
