What to Expect in HorrorVale

HorrorVale invites players into a world where the supernatural is mundane; your neighbors are zombies, mail is delivered by reanimated monsters, and ghosts frequently occupy your bathroom. The story follows a protagonist named Alice as she navigates the underworld to rescue her zombie dog, Scruffy, from a mysterious invasion of monsters threatening the town.

The game is structured as a traditional RPG adventure featuring a four-act narrative. Players can expect over 50 hours of gameplay, focusing on turn-based combat with a horror-themed twist, alongside puzzle-solving and party management.

Party Mechanics and Side Content

The game offers a significant roster of characters, allowing players to recruit over 30 unique party members. Each character comes with specific quirks and abilities. To streamline team building, BatWorks Software has implemented a shared XP system, which removes the penalty for experimenting with different party compositions. Beyond the main quest, there are 60 sidequests available for players to engage with, providing deeper insight into the personal stories of the various NPCs inhabiting the Underworld.

The journey takes players through a variety of environments, including creepy woods, spooky streets, and scary bogs, as they work to uncover the origins of the monsters currently occupying the valley.
