Starry Studio has officially confirmed that its multiplayer open-world survival game, Once Human, is coming to consoles later this summer. The title is set to launch for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on August 25, 2026.

The announcement follows the game's existing availability on PC, iOS, and Android. To mark the upcoming console release, the developer has released a new trailer showcasing gameplay on the hardware.

Surviving the Post-Apocalypse

Once Human places players in a post-apocalyptic world transformed by an extraterrestrial substance known as Stardust. This substance has infected the environment, including local flora, fauna, and the atmosphere. Players take on the role of a "Meta-Human," a survivor capable of harnessing the power of Stardust rather than being consumed by it.

The game features a 256 km² seamless map that includes a variety of environments, ranging from frozen tundras and active volcanoes to treacherous swamps and deserts. Survival mechanics are central to the experience, with gameplay loops focused on hunting, farming, base building, and combat against both rival players and monstrous "Deviants" created by the Stardust infection.

Building and Combat

Creativity plays a significant role in the game, as players are able to construct bases anywhere in the wild. These structures can be customized with various amenities like kitchens, garages, and patios, and must be defended against threats using traps and defensive weaponry.

In addition to standard survival challenges, the game features "Deviation Pals." These are strange creatures found throughout the world—ranging from a dragon chef to a gun-toting alpaca—that can be recruited to assist with gathering resources, defending territory, or fighting alongside the player. Starry Studio notes that these creatures require regular attention and care to ensure they remain helpful rather than rebellious.

Whether exploring alone or teaming up with friends, players will need to utilize strategy and teamwork to navigate the world and uncover the truth behind the apocalypse.
