A new cloud-streaming application called Asobi: Remote Play has opened a public playtest, allowing players to stream PlayStation games directly to a Steam Deck, Steam Machine, and other SteamOS or Linux devices without requiring a PS5 console.

How the Asobi Playtest Works
While streaming a personal PS4 or PS5 console over a home network has been supported by apps like Asobi for a while, this update introduces direct PS Plus Premium cloud catalog streaming. With an active subscription, players can pull games straight from the cloud onto a Steam Deck or Steam Machine.
Developer Ichenzo announced the launch on the app's Reddit community, confirming that all premium features are unlocked for free during the playtest until the software's full release on the Steam Store. Invites are rolling out by email to those who signed up.
Performance and Pricing Tiers
During the playtest phase, the app unlocks the full premium tier—supporting 60fps, HDR, controller haptics, 4K upscaling, and manual bitrate control. Once the playtest concludes, the free version will revert to a 1080p/30fps ceiling. Pricing details for the full premium unlock have not yet been announced.
The software operates directly within Steam without requiring users to back out to desktop mode. A Windows version is currently in development and scheduled for release in the near future.
