Streamer Zack “Asmongold” Hoyt has confirmed that his Twitch channel is currently under a 14-day suspension. The streamer addressed the status of his account in a YouTube video posted over the weekend, following a period of absence from the platform.
Context of the Suspension
The suspension follows a broadcast in which Hoyt made comments rationalizing the use of lethal force against people migrating across borders, including women and children. In his follow-up video, Hoyt acknowledged that he had not received specific communication from Twitch regarding the exact cause of the ban, stating, “Twitch has never communicated to me what the thing is that I did wrong.” He noted that he is “just guessing it’s probably the thing that everybody was mad about.”
Platform Communication and Policy
Hoyt contrasted this current situation with previous, less severe penalties, noting that he typically receives emails explaining specific content violations. In this instance, he reported receiving no such communication from the Amazon-owned platform.
Future Streaming Plans
Addressing his future on the platform, Hoyt stated that he intends to “tone” his language down to avoid further suspensions but explicitly maintained his position on the topic. “I apologize for absolutely nothing,” he said in the video. He added that while he aims to avoid future bans, he does not intend to stop expressing his views, characterizing his communication style as an attempt to “normalize this type of language.”
Twitch has not responded to requests for comment regarding the suspension.
