A community modder has restored unarmed combat to Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag Resynced roughly one month after the remake's release. Created by Nexus Mods user kamzik123 and simply titled "Unarmed Combat," the modification addresses one of several combat features missing from Ubisoft's updated version of the 2013 open-world pirate adventure.

Quick Facts

  • Game: Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag Resynced
  • Platform: PC (via Nexus Mods)
  • New Addition: Fan-made unarmed combat mechanics
  • Current Limitation: Finishers currently utilize sword animations rather than custom fist-fight knockouts

How the Unarmed Combat Mod Works

While Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag Resynced introduced a visual overhaul and revised combat systems, it also dropped specific legacy elements from the original release, including accessible unarmed brawls and selectable hidden blade combat. While Ubisoft has indicated it is listening to player feedback regarding these omissions, the community has stepped in with custom tools.

The new Nexus Mods download allows Edward Kenway to punch and defeat hostiles bare-handed. To activate the fists using this project, players must equip the Officer Small Swords, which triggers the alternate fighting state. The mod creator notes that while brawls function properly, finishing moves still default to sword animations at this stage of development.

Players looking to install the project can find it on Nexus Mods alongside a growing list of community fixes and visual tweaks for the PC release.
