Infinity Ward has deployed a wave of core adjustments and new features for the Modern Warfare 4 beta, overhauling movement, Gunsmith customization, and killstreak progression ahead of the upcoming test weekends.

Quick Facts

  • Platforms: Multi-platform, with pre-load already available ahead of the servers going live.
  • PC Requirements: Requires TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot enabled on your system.
  • Level Caps: Level 20 cap for Weekend 1; level 30 cap for Weekend 2.

Confirmed Gameplay and Playlist Changes

The update introduces a playable Campaign mission titled Entrenched, marking a first for the franchise by integrating story content directly into a beta build. For multiplayer, Weekend 1 features four core maps:

  • Rooftops: A vertical, close-to-mid-range map set across connected rooftops and alleyways.
  • Silkworm: An open, mid-to-long-range map featuring multiple lanes and elevated positions.
  • Transit 213: An urban transit hub featuring trains, platforms, and interior corridors.
  • Kill Block: A dedicated 10v10 Gunfight-style map built specifically for the Kill Block playlist.

Classic modes including Team Deathmatch, Domination, Hardpoint, and Kill Confirmed return alongside specialized playlists like Mobility Course and Kill Block 10v10 Gunfight.

Weapons, Gunsmith, and Smart Streaks

Weekend 1 launches with 14 weapons available for testing. The revamped Gunsmith introduces the Apex Attachments tier, allowing players to mount advanced weapon systems that alter a weapon's core role—such as the Han 86 transforming into the Han X20 Skybreaker with 20mm airburst rounds, or the X-58 Nyx becoming the stealth-focused X-58 Void.

Crucially for progression, attachment progression is now de-duplicated. Once you unlock an attachment on a specific weapon, it becomes usable on other compatible guns without requiring a separate grind.

Killstreaks have also been updated with Smart Streaks. Alongside traditional kills, objective actions—such as capturing and holding Domination flags, holding the Hardpoint zone, and planting the Data Spike—now contribute directly to your Killstreak Meter.
