Evo 2026 has concluded, and while new champions were crowned in Street Fighter 6 and Tekken 8, the event also served as a stage for a flurry of developer updates. From final roster reveals to surprise retro drops, here is a breakdown of the major news from the weekend.
Marvel Tokon and 2XKO Updates
The final lineup for Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls is now set. The "Samurai Outriders" team will feature Blade, Loki, Deadpool, and Ghost Rider. Deadpool is particularly notable; according to a PlayStation Blog post, he can access unique attacks from various legendary fighting games by using a strategy guide found beyond the fourth wall.
Riot Games also pulled the curtain back on the future of 2XKO, confirming that Lux and Samira are the next two champions slated for the roster.
New DLC for Tekken 8, Avatar Legends, and Invincible VS
Bandai Namco used the event to showcase the next character coming to Tekken 8: Bob. The trailer also featured a brief, cryptic teaser for Roger Jr. at the end. Meanwhile, Avatar Legends detailed its first season of DLC, which will feature five fighters: Iroh, Ty Lee, Lin Beifong, Bolin, and a final character to be determined by a community vote. The candidates for that spot are Tenzin, Kuvira, Amon, King Bumi, and Asami.
Invincible VS is also set for a June 30 DLC drop. The update includes two new playable characters, The Immortal and Universa, alongside a variety of new character skins.
SNK and Virtua Fighter News
SNK was busy throughout the event. Following the Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves tournament, the studio shadow-dropped Kenshiro from First of the North Star into the game. SNK also announced The Path of the Warrior: Art of Fighting 3R, a rebalanced version of the retro title that adds King to the roster. Furthermore, the classic title Ninja Masters was shadow-dropped onto Steam.
Finally, Virtua Fighter Crossroads is adding a new character known as The Bakunawa Killer. The character has ties to Pai Chan, leading to community speculation that the fighter could be her father, Lau Chan, or her rival, Lei Fei.
