Konami’s classic military-themed arcade title Combat School—also known as Boot Camp in North America—is officially joining the Arcade Archives library tomorrow, Thursday, August 7, 2026. The game will be available across Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.

Release Details and Platform Differences

The re-release offers two pricing tiers based on the platform and feature set. The standard release for Nintendo Switch and PS4 is priced at $7.99. Owners of the Switch 2, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S will pay $9.99, which includes an additional Time Attack mode and expanded settings not found in the base version.

Gameplay and Features

Originally released in 1987, the game functions as a compilation of minigames similar to Konami’s Track & Field or Hyper Sports. Players navigate various drills—such as arm wrestling and rifle range challenges—under the supervision of a demanding drill sergeant. Beyond these drills, the game includes a specialized hostage rescue mission for those who successfully complete the training.

The Arcade Archives version includes a standard suite of modern features, including:

  • Hi Score Mode and Caravan Mode
  • CRT filter options
  • Online leaderboards
  • Customizable button remapping

The original arcade cabinet famously utilized a trackball and two-button configuration, though a later revision transitioned the controls to a standard joystick.
