Developer Thekla and publisher Arc Games have confirmed that Order of the Sinking Star, the massive new puzzle game from the creators of Braid and The Witness, will launch on PlayStation 5 on October 8, 2026. After a 10-year development cycle, the title is structured around a sprawling world map that players can explore freely. Directional choices on the map dictate the types of puzzles encountered, which eventually converge to require multiple rules and mechanics simultaneously.
While Jonathan Blow and the core Thekla team spearheaded development, the project also incorporates contributions from several notable puzzle designers, including Alan Hazelden, Sean Barrett, Jonah Ostroff, Zach Polansky, Patrick Traynor, and Marc ten Bosch. Across the game's open world, players will work through more than 1,000 puzzles that gradually unfold the narrative and character arcs.
