Why Players Are Switching to the Japanese Version
While the Onimusha series is now almost entirely playable on PS4 and PS5, industry member Alex Aniel highlighted a notable difference in how the game handles challenge. According to findings shared on X, the USA edition of Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams features much tougher balancing, particularly during boss encounters, than its regional counterpart.
Players looking for a more accessible difficulty curve will want the Japanese version, which is based on the PS2 Best Price release and includes a dedicated Beginner mode.
How to Access the Japanese Binary on PS5 and PS4
The alternative version isn't selectable through standard in-game menus or PlayStation Store region switching. To activate the Japanese binary on your system, you must navigate to your console settings and change your system language to Japanese. Once applied, launching the game will boot the Japanese edition complete with its original difficulty modes.
