The animated adaptation follows the original game's protagonists—Ax Battler, Tyris Flare, and Gilius Thunderhead—as they reunite to combat the recurring antagonist Death Adder. According to the official series description, the trio is joined by a new, inexperienced character named Hampton Squib.
