Capcom has officially confirmed that a dedicated Dev Confirms Hard Mode update is heading to Dragon's Dogma 2, addressing one of the open-world RPG's most prominent balance complaints since its 2024 launch.

As players level up, the title's difficulty curve flattens significantly, leaving many standard enemy encounters far too easy and removing the need to fully engage with its combat systems. While fans requested a hard difficulty setting for months, the developer did not address the demand until planning the upcoming Dark Arisen expansion.

What Hard Mode Will Offer

According to director Kento Kinoshita via a Steam Q&A article, the upcoming setting aims to "provide a satisfying challenge for seasoned players whose stats have reached, or are approaching, the level cap." Producer Naoto Oyama advised players to watch for future updates regarding exact details and a release window.

Because Hard Mode was not mentioned when the Dark Arisen DLC was revealed, it is expected to arrive as a post-launch update following the expansion's October 9 release. However, production timelines remain fluid, with Kinoshita noting the team is working right up to the wire to deliver the best possible product.

Before Hard Mode arrives, PlayStation 5 and multi-platform players can expect Title Update 3.2 later this month. That patch brings major combat adjustments, revised pawn and enemy behaviors, performance enhancements, and additional save slots.
