HoYoverse has detailed Genshin Impact Version 7.0, bringing players to Teyvat's seventh nation, Snezhnaya, alongside a wave of new gameplay systems, characters, and combat mechanics. Based on the official Version 7.0 livestream, the upcoming update launches on August 12, 2026.

Exploring Snezhnaya and the Cold Mechanic

Snezhnaya arrives as a frozen wasteland featuring harsh winds and a cold mechanic distinct from Dragonspine. Players receive a dedicated gadget to stay warm during exploration. For fast travel and shelter, functional trains connect multiple points of interest across the region, serving as mobile bases complete with a Firearm Workbench, Crafting Table, and a communicator for submitting Daily Commissions.

Returning players who have been away from the game can jump straight into the new Snezhnaya Archon Quests provided they have already completed the Song of the Dragon and Freedom quest in Mondstadt.

Cryo Traveler and Stellar Swirl Reactions

Version 7.0 introduces the Cryo Traveler, who wields a unique weapon called the Exaiphanes Blade. This sword can be upgraded by interacting with Statues of the Seven scattered across Snezhnaya.

The update also debuts Stellar Swirl, a new Stellar Elemental reaction. When Anemo meets Cryo, it generates a Stellar Vortex that deals Anemo damage initially, explodes into Cryo damage, and can be actively upgraded on the field by triggering subsequent Stellar Swirls.

Third-Person Shooter Combat in Shadow Realms

In a major departure from traditional combat, Snezhnaya's Shadow Realm areas introduce **third-person shooter gameplay**. Players can utilize cover mechanics similar to tactical shooters, vault obstacles, slide to reposition, and break ice barriers using a grenade launcher to eliminate enemies.

The firearms feature three distinct variants: a Cryo rifle for precision shots, an Electro rifle with auto-lock capabilities, and a triple-element grenade launcher supporting Pyro, Hydro, and Cryo. HoYoverse has confirmed multiple aim-assist options for players adjusting to the mechanics, alongside high-difficulty stages for experienced players.

Character Banners and Event Lineup

The Version 7.0 banners are split into two phases:

  • Phase One: Odette (five-star Cryo sword user and Prima Ballerina), Arlecchino, and boosted four-star character Alyosha (Electro polearm).
  • Phase Two: Flins and Ineffa.

Alyosha can also be obtained directly by playing through the "Everwinter Without Mercy" Archon Quest when the update goes live.
