Publisher Playstack and developer Cold Symmetry have launched the open beta test for Mortal Shell 2, giving PlayStation 5 players a chance to experience the action RPG ahead of its official release date.

What's Included in the Open Beta
The open beta lets players experience the opening hours of the game, covering the Prologue and an early section of the open world. Along the way, participants can cleanse beacons, explore optional dungeons, and take on hidden mini-bosses and challenges on the path toward Magdelena, the Lady of the Woods.
While full save progress does not carry over to the final release, players who manage to push past the Marrow Keep area will unlock the option to skip the Prologue when the full game launches. Additionally, participating in the beta unlocks an exclusive cosmetic reward: The Flayed Harbinger.
About the Sequel's Mechanics
Much like the original title, the sequel is a Souls-inspired action RPG centered around titular Shells. These Shells allow players to inhabit the bodies of different warriors, with each one providing unique strengths and abilities.
The open beta is scheduled to run right up until the game's launch on August 20, 2026, giving players plenty of time to test out the combat and exploration before the full version arrives.
