Korean developer Hound13 has confirmed that DragonSword: Awakening is headed to PlayStation 5. The news, reported via Japanese outlet GameSpark, follows the game's successful launch on PC via Steam just over a week ago.
While a specific release window for the PS5 version has not been provided, the project is currently in development. Given the timing, it is likely in the early stages of production.
A Shift Away From Live Service
DragonSword: Awakening has gained significant traction on Steam, peaking at over 23,000 concurrent players with nearly 90% positive reviews. The title’s reception is largely tied to its departure from the standard Korean RPG model; despite being built with Unreal Engine 5 as an online-capable experience, the studio chose to abandon live service features entirely.
For players, this means the game functions as a complete, single-purchase package. Unlike competitors in the anime-inspired open-world genre, every item in DragonSword: Awakening is earned through gameplay rather than hidden expenses or seasonal gacha mechanics.
Quick Facts
- Current Platforms: PC (Steam)
- Confirmed Port: PlayStation 5 (in development)
- Business Model: Single-purchase, no microtransactions or gacha
- Sales Milestone: Over 200,000 copies sold in the first week
The game’s aesthetic approach often draws comparisons to titles like Wuthering Waves and Genshin Impact. However, its primary appeal currently lies in offering that visual style without the time-consuming commitments typically required by live service titles.
