Weather Factory has announced that the public demo for Travelling at Night, their upcoming choice-led CRPG, will arrive on Steam on August 10, 2026. The demo will feature the game's first chapter, allowing players to explore the setting of Antibes and interact with its inhabitants.
Quick Facts
- Demo Release Date: August 10, 2026
- Platforms: PC (Steam and GOG), Linux, and Mac
- Core Gameplay: Combat-free CRPG focused on choices, skills, and narrative
- Development Team: Weather Factory (known for Cultist Simulator and Book of Hours)
Gameplay and Narrative
Set in a fictional, post-World War II Europe, the story follows a protagonist returning to Cracow twelve years after a traumatic encounter with "worms." The narrative centers on a new cold war between the USA, which relies on "Incorporates," and the USSR, which utilizes "star-touched Ministries."
The game avoids traditional combat, instead emphasizing player agency through dialogue and decision-making. Players choose a career and a core drive—such as a stage mage with an appetite or a doctor driven by curiosity—which influences how they navigate the world. Success depends on sixteen specific skills, including Spivvery for finding food, Dignity for earning trust, and Skolekosophy for handling dangerous, forbidden knowledge.
Technical Status and Support
While the full game is slated for release on Steam, GOG, Linux, and Mac, specific technical details remain limited. As of now, the developer has not confirmed Steam Deck compatibility or provided Proton test results. Controller support is not currently listed on the store page, and the status of Linux builds within the upcoming demo has not been clarified. Players are encouraged to check the Steam store page on August 10 for specific build information.
Developer Promotion
In conjunction with the demo announcement, Weather Factory has launched a significant discount on their previous title, Book of Hours. The game and its associated DLC are currently 60% off on Steam as part of a daily deal, which the developer describes as their deepest discount to date.
